Women in Recycling Conference 2025: A Powerful Day of Connection, Confidence & Celebration
The Women in Recycling 2025 Conference & Dinner for International Women’s Day welcomed 120 women from across the recycling, waste management, and sustainability sectors for a transformative day of empowerment, learning, and industry connection.
The day opened with networking and a warm introduction to the mission of Women in Recycling, championing female leadership, confidence, and inclusion within a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Keynote speaker Katrin Leinweber delivered an energising session on dismantling stereotypes, communicating with confidence, and navigating challenges with confidence. Dr. Alka Patel followed with an insightful exploration into women’s health and performance, sharing practical strategies to overcome the “silent saboteurs” of sugar, sleep, and stress and their daily impact at work.
Afternoon sessions included a moving fireside chat with Nicole Procter and Summer Connolley, who shared their very personal journeys of resilience, followed by Amy Bird, who spoke on authenticity, overcoming gaslighting, imposter syndrome and building strong professional foundations.
The evening Dinner brought further celebration with a drinks reception, networking, dinner, entertainment from comedian Samantha Baines, a charity raffle, and live music to close the night.
The event marked a significant step in uniting and uplifting women across the recycling sector, reinforcing the shared commitment to progress, representation, and a more inclusive future.
